Studio Weave were commissioned to uplift the character of the Great Ormond Street Hospital cafeteria by increasing its connection to the adjacent Lullaby Factory. Our scope for the project included: provision of seating within the exterior seating area; signage and wayfinding leading café users towards the original installation.

The project extended the original installation, and incorporated interactive, kinetic and tactile elements to increase accessibility and engagement. Key parts of the new extension are positioned to draw attention to and frame glimpses of the original – and lead café users outside. On the cafeteria’s exterior terrace, a xylophonic bench invites visitors to the factory to contribute new melodies and notes into the lullabies being delivered to the wards above.
