Studio Weave were appointed by City of London Academy to conduct a site feasibility study, after recognition of our work on the Belvue Woodland Classroom, and Belvue School Redevelopment projects. The CoLA project was initiated following the national success of the CoLA basketball programme. The scope of the feasibility study was directed to test the site capacity for additional facilities which could accommodate an expanded programme and/or associated commercial activities.

Our study surveyed the baseline condition, and collated the different requirements, costs and risks of various scenarios – alongside consideration of the impact of development on existing education and sports operations as well as estimating potential additional income generation. The scenarios explored ranged from: transforming the sports centre at CoLA into a nationally significant basketball centre, to more modest improvements of the existing sports hall - and several permutations in between.
