Studio Weave were appointed alongside collaborating strategist Architecture00 to develop a strategy and outline design briefs for Chipping Barnet Town Centre, following the success of our Dalston Town Centre Permeability Study in leading to Dalston Town Centre Public Realm Improvements.
Our scope included: appraisal of the baseline condition; delivery of a series of co-creation events and stakeholder workshops; identification of potential projects and site opportunities; and production of a community plan based on the outcomes of ongoing engagement. Our approach to co-creation was multi-faceted – involving a range of different methods and themes; we ensured that engagement was both accessible and varied, to develop a plan which is reflective of a range of local initiatives and interests.

Our co-creation programme facilitated the drafting of a longlists of potential projects and sites in and around the town centre, and proposed assessment criteria to conduct high-level analysis of their feasibility, popularity and prospective value for money. The Community Plan was drawn up and a website created to transparently enable contributors and wider public to follow the progress and development of the project. And the community were invited to vote on a number of projects they wished to prioritise.
Architecture00 and Studio Weave collaborated to collate relevant case studies, and to draft project briefs to aid the council in progressing the shortlisted projects.
